The active ingredient in our self tanner is Dihydroxyacetone (DHA, sugar cane-derived), which gives the top layer of the skin a bronzed glow. Non-GMO and overflowing with plant-based goodness. • Step 1 — Prep
  Exfoliate with a loofah, exfoliating pad, or body scrub to remove dead skin cells for an even, longer-lasting result. Apply a light layer of moisturizer to feet, ankles, wrists, and elbows, as these areas absorb product more readily. Allow one to two days after shaving before application.
• Step 2 — Apply
  Pump the mousse onto a mitt or applicator brush. Begin at the legs and work upward in long, sweeping motions. Use a lighter touch on wrists, ankles, knees, and elbows. The mousse sets quickly, so maintain a steady pace for even blending. Wash hands thoroughly if applying without a mitt.
• Step 3 — Develop
  Wait at least one hour before showering, swimming, or exercising. Full color develops within 6–8 hours. For a deeper shade, apply a second coat after approximately one hour.
• Step 4 — Maintain
  Keep skin moisturized daily — hydrated skin holds onto your tan much longer.

As often as needed! Keep an eye on your tan, and when it starts to fade go ahead and reapply. Most customers find that their tan lasts about 7 days before fading, but if you notice a difference sooner, there’s no reason not to reapply.

Take the time to apply it right – exfoliate first, be generous with the amount you use, and use a self tanning mitt. We find that we can extend the life of our tan by sticking to warm (not hot) showers and by moisturizing daily.

An orange or overly dark tan usually means too much DHA for your skin tone — not that self tanner "doesn't work" on you. The fix is choosing the right shade and undertone match, then building your color gradually.

Yes — if you apply with bare hands and don't wash and exfoliate them properly, self tanner can collect on palms, knuckles, and cuticles and look orange.

Every DHA-based self tanner can develop a characteristic "tanner" scent as the color activates — that's normal. Many brands mask it with heavy synthetic fragrances; we don't.
